Sweet James, Sweet Wins Gift Card Sweepstakes

1. Sponsor
The Sweet James, Sweet Wins Gift Card Sweepstakes (the “Sweepstakes”) is sponsored and administered by Sweet James LLP, 4220 Von Karman Ave., Suite 200, Newport Beach, CA 92660 (“Sponsor”). The Sweepstakes is not sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Nexstar Media Group, KTLA 5, or any other event or media partner.
2. Eligibility
Open only to legal residents of California who are eighteen (18) years of age or older at the time of entry. Employees, contractors, officers, and directors of Sponsor; and its organizers, promoters, and staff; and each of their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, and advertising and promotion agencies — as well as the immediate family members (spouse, parent, child, sibling, and their respective spouses) and household members of each — are not eligible. Void where prohibited by law. Must be able to provide a current IRS Form W9 confirming eligibility, and the winner will receive an IRS Form 1099 as required by law.
3. Sweepstakes Period
The Sweepstakes begins October 22, 2026 at 8:00 AM Pacific Time (“PT”) and ends December 17, 2026 at 11:59 PM PT (the “Sweepstakes Period”). Sponsor’s servers are the official timekeeping device for the Sweepstakes.
4. How to Enter
During the Sweepstakes Period, visit sweetjames.com/blog/sweet-james-6-million-pedestrian-accident-settlement-san-francisco and complete and submit the entry form with your first name, last name, email address, and phone number. Online entry is the only method of entry. Limit one (1) entry per person and per email address during the Sweepstakes. Entries using multiple or fictitious email addresses or identities, or generated by script, macro, bot, or any other automated means, are void and will be disqualified.
5. Prize
One (1) prize will be awarded: one (1) $1,000 gift card per winner. Approximate retail value (“ARV”) of the prize: $1,000. Total ARV of all prizes: $1,000. Limit one (1) prize per person and per household. The gift card is subject to the issuer’s terms and conditions. The prize is non-transferable, and no cash equivalent or substitution is permitted, except by Sponsor, which may substitute a prize of equal or greater value. The winner is solely responsible for any applicable taxes.
6. Winner Selection & Odds
One random drawing will be conducted by Sponsor from all eligible entries received during the Sweepstakes Period: one (1) winner will be drawn on or about December 17, 2026. The winner need not be present at the event to win. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received during the Sweepstakes Period. Sponsor’s decisions are final and binding in all matters relating to the Sweepstakes.
7. Winner Notification & Prize Claim
The potential winner will be notified by email and by phone within three (3) business days of the drawing, using the contact information provided at entry. A potential winner must respond and confirm eligibility within seven (7) days of first notification attempt, or the prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner may be selected at random from the remaining eligible entries. The prize will be delivered by mail or as an electronic gift card, at Sponsor’s option, within approximately four (4) weeks of confirmation. Sponsor is not responsible for undeliverable email, incorrect contact information, or a prize lost in transit once sent.
8. Publicity Release
Except where prohibited by law, as a condition of receiving a prize, each winner must sign and return a Publicity Release. By accepting a prize, the winner grants Sponsor, its affiliates, and their agents and licensees an irrevocable, royalty-free, worldwide right, for as long as the law allows, to use the winner’s name, photograph, image, likeness, voice, city and state of residence, prize information, biographical information, social media username, and any statements the winner makes about the Sweepstakes. These may be used for advertising, promotion, trade, and publicity related to the Sweepstakes and Sponsor, in any media now known or later developed, including the internet and social media. No further compensation, notice, review, or approval is required. Sponsor may edit, crop, or adapt these materials to fit the format. However, Sponsor will not portray the winner as a client of Sponsor or as endorsing Sponsor’s legal services, unless the winner gives separate written consent. The winner waives any claim against Sponsor for invasion of privacy, right of publicity, defamation, or false light arising from any use permitted here. This grant survives the end of the Sweepstakes.
9. General Conditions; Disqualification
Any attempt to tamper with the entry process or the operation of the Sweepstakes; to enter more than the permitted number of times; to use automated entry methods; or to otherwise act in a fraudulent, deceptive, or unsportsmanlike manner, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion, will result in disqualification of all associated entries, and Sponsor reserves the right to seek remedies to the fullest extent permitted by law. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEBSITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE SWEEPSTAKES MAY VIOLATE CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS.
10. Force Majeure; Right to Modify or Terminate
If the Sweepstakes cannot be conducted or completed as planned for any reason beyond Sponsor’s reasonable control — including but not limited to fraud, tampering, technical failures, computer virus, unauthorized intervention, severe weather, natural disaster, epidemic or public-health emergency, act of God, labor dispute, government action, or the cancellation, postponement, or modification of the Sweepstakes — Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, suspend, or modify the Sweepstakes and, if terminated early, to award the prize at random from among all eligible, non-suspect entries received prior to the action taken.
11. Release & Limitation of Liability
By entering, entrants release and hold harmless Sponsor, Nexstar Media Group, KTLA 5, and its organizers, and each of their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, employees, and agents (the “Released Parties”) from any claim or cause of action arising out of participation in the Sweepstakes or receipt or use of any prize. The Released Parties are not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, illegible, misdirected, or garbled entries; for any technical or human error in the administration of the Sweepstakes or the processing of entries; or for any injury or damage to any person or property relating to participation in the Sweepstakes.
12. Privacy
Information submitted with an entry will be collected and used by Sponsor in accordance with Sponsor’s Privacy Policy, available at sweetjames.com/privacy-policy.
13. Disputes; Governing Law
Except where prohibited, entrants agree that any and all disputes arising out of or connected with the Sweepstakes shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, exclusively by the state or federal courts located in Orange County, California, and shall be governed by the laws of the State of California without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
14. Winner List
For the name of the winner, send an email with the subject line “Sweet Wins Sweepstakes Winner” to marketing@sweetjames.com, received by December 31, 2026.
15. Social Media Platforms
The Sweepstakes may be promoted on social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, LinkedIn, and YouTube. The Sweepstakes is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Meta Platforms, Inc., TikTok Inc., X Corp., Google LLC, or any other social media platform, and entrants release each such platform from any liability in connection with the Sweepstakes.
16. No Legal Services or Attorney-Client Relationship
This Sweepstakes is sponsored by Sponsor purely for promotional and marketing purposes. Participation in this Sweepstakes, including entering the sweepstakes, interacting with Sponsor’s social media accounts, or claiming a prize, does not constitute legal advice, does not establish an attorney-client relationship, and does not create any confidential or privileged relationship between you and the Sponsor. You should not act or refrain from acting based on any materials or communications associated with this Promotion without seeking independent, professional legal counsel.
