Nick Thomo
Nick Thomo is a seasoned trial attorney known for his relentless advocacy, disciplined courtroom strategy, and unwavering commitment to justice for victims. With a background rooted in trial practice, he previously served as a prosecutor for 14 years, where he developed extensive courtroom experience and a reputation for rigorous case preparation and powerful advocacy.
After graduating from law school, Nick began his legal career in 2012 at the San Diego City Attorney’s Office, where he spent four years in the Criminal Division handling hundreds of cases. He served primarily in the General Trial Unit and Domestic Violence Unit, conducting 54 jury trials involving offenses ranging from petty theft and driving under the influence to assault with a deadly weapon and domestic violence. These cases required close collaboration with victims, where Nick provided leadership, guidance, and steadfast advocacy. Through this work, he built a reputation for delivering justice with exceptional dedication, discipline, and an unwavering commitment to those he represented.
In 2016, Nick joined the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, where he spent the next 10 years prosecuting hundreds of criminal cases, including conducting 31 jury trials, across multiple specialized units, such as the Felony Panel Unit, the Gangs/T.A.R.G.E.T. unit, and the Homicide unit. He handled complex, multi-defendant prosecutions involving novel and sophisticated legal theories of liability, successfully litigating high-stakes cases while vigorously advocating for justice on behalf of crime victims. Throughout this work, Nick partnered closely with victim advocates through Waymakers to help victims of violent crime navigate the court system and legal process. His practice included some of the office’s most challenging homicide prosecutions, including death penalty cases.
In addition to his extensive jury trial experience, Nick has significant experience leading advanced training sessions for legal professionals. He has presented on topics such as “Theory of Extended Liability”, “Gang Expertise”, and “Jury Instructions” to prosecutors, law enforcement officers, and law students at Chapman University.
