Daniel Figueroa Killed in Motorcycle Crash on Highway 33 [OJAI, CA]

Fatal Motorcycle Crash on Highway 33 in Los Padres National Forest

 
OJAI, CA (July 19, 2020) – A man who died in a motorcycle crash Sunday afternoon on Highway 33 in Los Padres National Forest above Ojai has been identified by authorities.
 
The crash happened around 12:15 p.m. near the Sespe Gorge area on the highway, also known as Maricopa Highway.
 
Daniel Figueroa, 42, from Santa Barbara, was riding a 2016 Ducati motorcycle southbound on Highway 33. At the same time, a 2015 Jeep was traveling within the lane of the highway. For unknown reasons, the Jeep and the motorcycle collided.
 
Arriving units pronounced Figueroa dead at the scene.
 
Two other riders were heading southbound on Highway 33 directly behind Figueroa. Both took evasive action to avoid the crash, causing them to be ejected from their motorcycles. Paramedics took them to Ventura County Medical Center with moderate injuries.
 
The driver of the Jeep was not injured.
 
Crews closed the highway for about four hours while they conducted their investigation.
