Male Pedestrian Pronounced Dead after Semi-Truck Crash near King Road

PLACER COUNTY, CA (March 28, 2024) – Wednesday afternoon, one man was fatally struck by a big-rig in a pedestrian collision on Interstate 80. 

California Highway Patrol arrived to the scene around 1:00 p.m., on the westbound lanes just west of King Road. According to reports, the driver of a Toyota pickup-truck stopped on the right shoulder of the freeway. 

Shortly after, the driver exited his vehicle and ran into the lanes. There, the driver of a passing semi-truck struck the pedestrian, sending the victim into the No. 2 lane. Responding medical personnel declared the man dead at the scene. 

Meanwhile, the driver pulled over to the right shoulder and cooperated with the investigation. Police do not suspect drugs or alcohol to be a factor in the collision. 

At this time, the identity of the deceased victim remains undisclosed to the public, pending notification from the next of kin. Placer County Officials will provide more information regarding the fatal Interstate 80 pedestrian accident once available.
