26-Year-Old Male Pedestrian Fatally Struck in Deadly Collision near Frankford Avenue

LUBBOCK, TX (March 28, 2024) – Tuesday morning, a pedestrian accident on 4th Street claimed the life of Immanuel Lopez.

Authorities responded to the scene around 7:30 a.m., at the 5800 block of 4th Street near Frankford Avenue on March 5th.

Officers say 36-year-old Dezerae Ortiz was driving in the area and struck Lopez as he was attempting to cross 4th Street. Paramedics arrived and transported Lopez to University Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday, March 6th.

Emergency crews shut down the surrounding roadway for a brief time during clearing operations. The Lubbock police are asking for the relatives of Lopez to come forward.
