67-Year-Old Woman Pronounced Dead after SUV vs Minivan Collision in Balboa Park

SAN DIEGO, CA (March 27, 2024) – Wednesday afternoon, a head-on collision on Florida Drive claimed the life of one woman.

Police officers responded to the scene around 2:30 p.m., at the 3000 block of Florida Drive in Balboa Park.

Upon arrival, officers determined that a northbound 2014 Toyota Sienna minivan crossed over the center line for reasons unknown. There, the Sienna collided head-on with a 2009 Subaru Forester in the southbound lanes.

Responding emergency personnel transported the 67-year-old woman driving the Forester to a hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet released her identity.

It was unclear if the 32-year-old man driving the Toyota minivan sustained injuries from the collision. Police do not suspect intoxication to be a factor in the incident.

San Diego Officials are currently asking those who witnessed the fatal head-on crash to contact Crime Stoppers at 888-580-847.
