VERNON, TX (March 26, 2024) – Saturday, Than Than Shwe died, and Michael and Marissa Mullens, Hernando and Lorena Trejos were hurt in a crash.

Authorities responded to the three-vehicle accident near Olkaunion.

Investigators say the driver of a Honda Odyssey lost control and veered over the cable barrier through the median. As a result, the Honda Odyssey collided head-on with an oncoming GMC Yukon. In addition, a Honda Pilot was unable to avoid the collision.

Medics later pronounced 43-year-old Shwe, of Vernon and a 9-year-old girl from inside the GMC deceased at Wilbarger General Hospital.

In addition, paramedics took 48-year-old Michael, from Dallas and 45-year-old Marissa to Wilbarger General for treatment. Crews also transported three minors, aged 13, 15 and 14 and 44-year-old Hernando, of Fort Worth and 39-year-old Lorena to the same hospital.

At this time, an active investigation to determine more information is still currently underway. Once available, further details will be provided about the fatal collision on US 287.
