27-Year-Old Officer Pronounced Dead after Speeding Collision near Mile Post 203

MARYSVILLE, WA (March 11, 2024) – Early Saturday morning, Christopher Gadd was fatally struck in a car crash on Interstate 5.

Authorities responded to the scene just before 3:00 a.m., on the southbound lanes of the freeway near milepost 203 on March 2nd.

Per reports, 27-year-old Christopher M. Gadd was on-duty when the driver of a speeding vehicle crashed into him. After hitting the patrol car, the suspect also crashed into a van with six occupants.

Due to the extent of his condition, Gadd later succumbed to his injuries. Meanwhile, paramedics took the van driver to a hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Investigators booked the 32-year-old male suspect from Lynnwood into the Snohomish County Jail for vehicular homicide.

Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. At this time, an active investigation to determine further information is still currently underway.
