One Pronounced Dead after Pickup Truck vs. Sedan Crash near Weiler Road East

SPANAWAY, WA (March 7, 2024) – Early Thursday morning, one driver was killed in a head-on collision on State Route 7.

The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m., on the southbound lanes of the freeway near Weiler Road East on February 22nd.

Officers say the driver of a pickup-truck was heading north and attempted to overtake a log truck. However, the pickup-truck collided head-on with a southbound sedan.

Due to the impact of the crash, medics pronounced the driver of the pickup-truck dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, paramedics transported the driver of the sedan to a nearby hospital for further treatment of serious injuries.

During cleanup and preliminary duties, authorities blocked the highway between 304th Street and 260th Street for several hours before it was later reopened around 10:30 a.m.

No other details were disclosed by the authorities, and an active investigation is currently ongoing.
