43-Year-Old Rider Pronounced Dead after Motorcycle Collision near Signal Butte Road
MESA, AZ (January 11, 2023) – Early Saturday morning, Steven Ferguson Jr. was killed in a DUI motorcycle crash on University Drive.
The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m., near Signal Butte Road on December 23rd.
For reasons under investigation, a vehicle and a motorcyclist collided in the area. First responders located the rider suffering from cardiac arrest upon arrival.
Due to the extent of his condition, medics pronounced 43-year-old Ferguson Jr. dead at the scene.
On Sunday, authorities arrested the 22-year-old driver of the vehicle, identified as Abdiel Vazquez Vasquez. Officers charged Vasquez with reckless manslaughter, DUI, and aggravated DUI with wrong-way driving.
An active investigation is currently ongoing.
