86-Year-Old Woman Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Collision near Lowell Way

GOLETA, CA (December 19, 2023) – Tuesday evening, Marjorie Vasquez was killed in a pedestrian crash on Hollister Avenue.

Authorities responded to the scene around 6:30 p.m., at 7300 Hollister Avenue near Lowell Way. 

For reasons under investigation, the driver of a vehicle struck a female pedestrian in the area. First responders pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Officers later identified the woman as 86-year-old Vasquez, of Goleta.

Meanwhile, the involved driver involved stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Following preliminary duties, police do not suspect drugs and alcohol to be a factor in the incident. 

At this time, the Sheriff’s Office Major Accident Response Team is leading the investigation. Once available, more details will be provided.
