Man Dead, Multiple Hospitalized after 2-Car Accident near Baseline Road

MESA, AZ (July 19, 2023) – Friday afternoon, one man was killed and multiple were hurt in a head-on collision on Sossaman Road.

Police responded to the scene around 4:00 p.m., near Baseline Road on July 14th.

According to reports, the 39-year-old male driver of a full-sized Ford pickup-truck was speeding south on Sossaman and attempted to pass a vehicle in front of him. There, the Ford collided head-on with an oncoming Toyota Prius.

Due to the impact of the collision, the 47-year-old male driver of the Toyota died at the scene. Although, authorities have not yet released his identity.

Meanwhile, paramedics transported the driver of the truck, a 5-year-old, a 2-year-old, and a baby to a nearby hospital for further treatment. Crews say two of the children were in the ICU with serious injuries.

No additional information was added by the authorities and the crash is still under investigation.
