1 Injured, 1 Killed Following Multi-Vehicle Crash near Lost Hills
BAKERSFIELD, CA (July 6, 2023) – On Tuesday, one person died, and one other sustained injuries after a three-vehicle collision on Interstate 5.
The crash took place on northbound I-5 near Lost Hills at around 7:24 a.m. on July 4th.
As per the CHP, a semi-truck was traveling behind a Dodge towing a Nissan going northbound on the I-5.
For unknown reasons, the semi-truck hit the back of the Nissan, which sent the Nissan off to the right onto the dirt shoulder into a barbed wire fence, into a dirt embankment, and overturned.
The semi-truck then ended up hitting the back of the Dodge.
First responders discovered a passenger in the Nissan, only identified as a 45-year-old person, dead at the scene.
In addition, paramedics found a 1-year-old seriously injured in the Nissan and rushed him to a nearby hospital.
At this time, officials have not released the name of all parties involved until their next of kin are notified.
Furthermore, CHP authorities urge anyone with information about the fatal collision on Interstate 5 to call Buttonwillow Area Public Information Officer at (661)764-5580.
