38-Year-Old Man Dies after a Fatal Head-on Collision
PASO ROBLES, CA (March 17, 2023) – Late Tuesday night, police responded to a head-on crash that claimed the life of Isaldo Arrelo Santiago.
The incident happened at around 11:18 p.m., March 14, on Highway 101 just north of Wellsona Road.
According to the CHP, a 2020 Nissan Sentra occupied by 33-year-old Alvaro Alvizo Diaz and 47-year-old Leopoldo Martinez and a 2000 Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by 38-year-old Santiago were involved in the crash.
Furthermore, investigators arrived at the scene and learned that the Sentra was travelling east on Wellsona Road when Diaz made a left turn on southbound lane of Highway 101.
In addition, the police stated that Diaz was travelling in the wrong direction and collided head-on with the Ford heading south on Highway 101.
Consequently, the crash resulted with Santiago suffering serious injuries which later led to his death.
And Diaz together with Martinez suffered major injuries.
Martinez was treated and the scene and Diaz was taken to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center.
Meanwhile, Diaz was assessed to be impaired and will be transferred to San Luis Obispo County Jail upon release.
