Luis Alvarado Zavala Killed in Big-Rig Collision on Highway 4 [Contra Costa County, CA]

44-Year-Old Driver Dead after Semi-Truck Crash near Hoffman Lane

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA (October 3, 2022) – Early Wednesday morning, Luis Alvarado Zavala was killed in a big-rig collision on Highway 4.

Police responded to the scene around 5:20 a.m. Dispatchers responded in the two-lane section of Highway 4, just east of Hoffman Lane.

Officers say the driver of the tractor-trailer entered the westbound lanes from a private driveway. There, the tractor was rear-ended by a Ford Taurus.

The impact pushed the Ford into the eastbound lanes, where it was struck by a Honda Odyssey shortly after.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced the Honda driver dead at the scene. The coroner’s office later identified the deceased victim as 44-year-old Alvarado, of Antioch.

Meanwhile, paramedics transported the Ford driver to a nearby hospital for further treatment. In addition, the driver of the tractor-trailer remained uninjured.
