Traffic Collision on Cooper Avenue Left One Elderly Woman Dead

MERCED, CA (June 24, 2022) – A fatal crash on Ashby Road left Ashlie Resendes and Heintz Guth injured Wednesday afternoon.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened around 12:30 p.m. on Ashby Road at Cooper Avenue.

Investigators said that 22-year-old driver, Resendes was heading westbound on Ashby and turning into Cooper Avenue.

However, 85-year-old Guth struck the left side of Resendes’ vehicle causing it to overturn.

Unfortunately, the passenger in Guth’s vehicle, a 75-year-old woman, sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.

Although, their identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.

Meanwhile, medical responders transported Guth and Resendes to a nearby hospital for minor injuries.

Merced Officials continue to investigate the fatal crash at this time.
