One Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Highway 101 [San Francisco, CA]
Traffic Accident on Interstate 80 Kills One, Two Arrested
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (June 9, 2022) – A multi-vehicle crash on Highway 101 took the life of one motorcyclist Tuesday morning.
Officers responded to the scene at US-101 southbound to Interstate 80 eastbound elevated connector ramp involving a Nissan sedan.
Upon arrival, police discovered the sedan blocking one of the two traffic lanes on the ramp.
In addition, a man in his 30s riding a motorcycle approached the disabled Nissan and lost control of the vehicle.
As a result, he struck the ramp wall and was ejected over the wall, landing him on top of a moving Honda sedan going westbound on I-80 to the US-101 southbound connector ramp.
Afterward, the Honda stopped and blocked the path of an approaching Subaru Forester. Subsequently, the Subaru collided with the rear-end of the Honda.
The motorcyclist died at the scene while authorities booked the Honda and Subaru drivers into custody under suspicion of driving under the influence.
The crash prompted a massive backup of both 101 and 80 and stretched across the Bay Bridge into the East Bay.
