Accident on Mission Bay Drive Left One Seriously Injured

SAN DIEGO, CA (May 20, 2022) – A motorcycle crash on Mission Bay Drive ejected and injured one rider on Monday, authorities said.

According to the police, the crash happened shortly after 3:13 p.m., in the 4200 block of Mission Bay Drive.

At this time, it remains unclear what made the 72-year-old driver of a 2011 Chevrolet Impala make the turn starting in a parked position from the west curb of the road.

As a result, the Impala collided with a 50-year-old riding a 2003 Honda Magna, ejecting them from their motorcycle.

Paramedics arrived at the scene and transported the rider to a hospital after suffering a collapsed lung and several rib fractures.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Impala remained uninjured. San Diego Officials are working to identify the circumstances surrounding the motorcycle crash.
