57-Year-Old Woman Dies in Traffic Accident on Highway 101

SANTA BARBARA, CA (April 6, 2022) – Late Monday evening, Debra Reynoso was pronounced dead after a pedestrian crash on Highway 101.

The incident occurred on April 4, shortly before midnight. Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Reynoso attempted to cross the freeway lanes when an oncoming 2001 Buick Le Sabre struck her in the roadway.

Moreover, reports stated that the Buick driver stopped, called 911, and remained at the scene until officers arrived.

Eventually, medics pronounced Reynoso dead at the scene at 12:05 a.m., Tuesday, despite the life-saving attempts.

Authorities later identified the Buick driver as Isaac Joseph Vargas, and police have not pressed any charges against Vargas at this time.

Both directions of the roadway were temporarily closed down to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties.
