Isidrone Martinez Arrested after Deadly DUI Crash on Interstate 5 [Carlsbad, CA]
One Killed, Multiple Injured in DUI Accident near La Costa Avenue
CARLSBAD, CA (March 25, 2022) – Authorities arrested Isidrone Martinez following a fatal DUI crash on Interstate 5, early Wednesday morning.
According to reports, the collision happened around 2:40 a.m., on the northbound lanes of the freeway just south of La Costa Avenue.
California Highway Patrol officers say a gray Honda Civic veered to the right through a Caltrans construction zone with a hard closure in place. Afterward, the Civic veered back to the left into the #2 lane where it collided in the right rear of a gray Toyota Prius.
Eventually, the Honda veered to the right up an embankment and rolled over multiple times, ejecting a 20-year-old man from the vehicle. Upon the first responders’ arrival, the man died at the scene.
Meanwhile, authorities arrested the Civic driver, identified as 20-year-old Isidrone Martinez for felony DUI.
Both victims in the Prius, identified as two 33-year-old men from San Diego sustained minor injuries. At the same time, the other occupants inside the Civic remained at the hospital with major injuries.
Carlsbad officials continue to investigate the DUI crash to determine further details.
