10-Month-Old Baby Dies in Car Accident near Hodge Road
BARSTOW, CA (February 25, 2022) – A head-on crash on National Trails Highway left 10-month-old Liam Gonzalez killed, Monday night.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 8:16 p.m., on National Trails Highway near Hodge Road.
Eventually, the San Bernardino County Firefighters arrived and pronounced one victim deceased at the scene. In addition, crews reported that two occupants were trapped inside the vehicle.
Firefighters requested two helicopters to transport the truck driver by Mercy Air Helicopter to Antelope Valley Hospital. Additionally, medics also airlifted a second person to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.
At this time, the events leading up to the collision remain unclear. However, emergency personnel reported at least 30 gallons of fuel that spilled on the right shoulder of the roadway.
Barstow Officials shut down National Trails Highway in both directions to investigate.
The San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office later identified the deceased passenger as 10-month-old Gonzalez, from Helendale.
