17-Year-Old Girl Dies, 2 Airlifted after Head-On Collision near Markham Road
ORO GRANDE, CA (February 16, 2022) – Nickayla Justine Abarca was killed Friday evening, in a head-on crash on National Trails Highway.
According to reports, the incident happened around 5:41 p.m., near Markham Road. Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after.
California Highway Patrol incident logs stated that the collision involved a white Ford F-150 and a gray sedan. Eventually, the San Bernardino County Firefighters arrived at the scene and declared one person dead.
In addition, crews had to extricate two occupants from one of the vehicles. Fire crews requested two medical helicopters to transport the two patients to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.
The Coroner’s office later identified the deceased victim as Nickayla Justine Abarca, a 17-year-old Hesperia resident.
Additionally, both directions of the roadway were temporarily shutdown to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties. At this time, Oro Grande Officials are still currently investigating the fatal incident.
