Motorcyclist Pronounced Dead after Head-On Crash on State Route 98 [El Centro, CA]
Motorcycle Rider Killed in Deadly Collision near Imperial Highway
EL CENTRO, CA (January 20, 2022) – Tuesday evening, a motorcyclist was pronounced dead after a head-on crash on State Route 98.
Police responded to the scene at approximately 8:34 p.m., just east of Imperial Highway.
Upon arrival, officers located a black Honda Civic and blue Yamaha motorcycle. Both vehicles had visible signs of major front-end damage sustained from the crash.
The driver of the Honda Civic was traveling east on State Route 98 east while the motorcyclist was traveling west. The Honda driver traveled directly into the path of the motorcycle, consequently causing a collision.
Paramedics responded and pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene. Officers also say he was wearing his safety gear at the time.
Authorities have not yet reported the other driver’s current condition. Although, crews described him as a 29-year-old male resident of Calexico.
Impairment does not seem to be a factor in the collision and the cause is still currently under investigation.
