Motorcyclist Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on SR-79 [Julian, CA]

JULIAN, CA (August 12, 2021) – Friday afternoon, a 33-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on SR-79 in Julian.

Officers responded to reports of the collision around 1:20 p.m.

According to the CHP, the motorcyclist was heading north in a 2008 Harley Davidson Dyna Glide when he veered into the southbound lane of the freeway for unknown reasons.

Subsequently, the motorcyclist crossed into the path of an oncoming 2016 Volkswagen Jetta, driven by a 41-year-old Ramona woman, causing a head-on collision. As a result, the motorcyclist was ejected onto the road.

Then, the unoccupied motorcycle slid across the roadway and struck a Toyota Land Cruiser driven by a 62-year-old female from Arizona.

Consequently, a northbound 2016 Harley-Davidson struck the scattered debris. That motorcycle rider was also ejected onto the road and was identified as a 57-year-old Oceanside man.

Eventually, medical personnel arrived at the scene and transported the female Volkswagen driver to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido.

The rider of the 2008 Harley Davidson succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The multi-vehicle crash on SR-79 continues to be under investigation by the Julian Authorities.
