Julio Lopez Killed in Fatal Crash on Highway 99 [Turlock, CA]

1 Killed in Multi-Vehicle Accident on Highway 99

TURLOCK, CA (August 5, 2021) – Julio Lopez, 40, of Turlock, lost his life Friday afternoon after a fatal multi-vehicle collision on Highway 99.

The tragic crash happened around 3:00 p.m. July 30, near Fulkerth Road on Highway 99.

According to the CHP, Lopez was driving northbound in the middle lane of the highway when Anthony Silva, driving a 2015 Toyota from the slow lane, attempted to change into the fast lane.

Police reported that the right front of Silva’s vehicle collided with the left rear of Lopez’ SUV.

As a result, the SUV exited the freeway and proceeded down a dirt embankment toward the northbound onramp.

The SUV then overturned and collided with Benjamin Rojas driving a 2007 Dodge in the onramp.

Lopez was thrown from his vehicle, and officers later discovered him on the on-ramp. Paramedics rushed him to Doctors Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.

At this time, it is unknown whether speed, drugs, or alcohol played a role in the crash. However, an active investigation is underway.
