Driver Arrested after Fatal Pedestrian Crash on 14th Street
LOGAN CIRCLE, WA (June 25, 2021) – 29-year-old Gerald Lewis was arrested Monday morning following a DUI pedestrian collision on 14th Street.
The incident took place in the 1500 block of 14th Street around 3:00 a.m., on June 14. Emergency crews arrived to the scene shortly after.
According to reports, Lewis was driving a Honda Civic when he struck a man who was leaning against the wall of a Metro bus shelter.
Paramedics rushed the victim to a nearby hospital, but he later died from his injuries. Authorities withheld the name of the victim, pending notification of kin.
Meanwhile, troopers stated that Lewis remained and cooperated, but they suspected him of driving under the influence after smelling alcohol on him while gathering information about the crash.
Eventually, officers arrested Lewis on charges of murder, driving under the influence and reckless driving.
