Woman Struck and Injured by Lyft Driver in San Diego Pedestrian Accident on Balboa Avenue near Ruffner Street
SAN DIEGO, CA (November 18, 2019) – A woman sustained injuries after a pedestrian accident on Balboa Avenue around 3 a.m. on Saturday, November 16.
According to the San Diego Police Department, a Lyft driver in a dark gray Kia struck a woman crossing Balboa Avenue near Ruffner Street. The driver did not have any passengers when the accident happened.
The woman sustained major injuries, including a brain bleed. Emergency personnel brought her to Sharp Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The male driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities. However, officers do not believe drugs or alcohol contributed to the collision.
The name of the persons involved in the incident were not immediately available.
Authorities closed Eastbound Balboa Avenue from the 805 Freeway to Ruffner Street during the investigation.
