Three Hurt, Dog Killed in Pedestrian Accidents on Independence Boulevard
SALINAS, CA (February 12, 2020) – Three people were hurt and a dog died after pedestrian accidents on Independence Boulevard and Constitution Boulevard.
Law enforcement discovered two people and a dog had been struck while using the crosswalk on Tuesday, February 11.
Medics rushed the two to Natividad. However, their dog died on the scene.
An hour before the incident, police rushed to another accident on East Boronda and McKinnon Street. After that, a vehicle struck a female pedestrian. First responders also brought her to Natividad.
According to police said the two Tuesday morning accidents aren’t related. Yet they do have one thing in common. Officers said that traveling in an eastbound direction in the City of Salinas during these hours, the sun is going to be right in your face. This is a contributing factor in both collisions, said Miguel Cabrera of the Salinas Police Department.
Drivers can reduce the sun’s impact by wearing sunglasses, using their vehicle’s sun visor, and cleaning the front windshield. In addition, drivers should also obey traffic rules and pay attention to their surroundings to avoid any accident.
