Suspected DUI Crash in San Luis Obispo Kills Terry Tilton
SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA (December 03, 2019) — 72-year-old Terry Tilton of San Luis Obispo died in a suspected DUI crash on Highway 227 Sunday night.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at about 6 p.m. south of Patchett Road.
Tilton was driving a 2013 Honda southbound, while 26-year-old Chelsea Stiles of Arroyo Grande was driving a 2005 GMC northbound, on the highway. For inexplicable reasons, the GMC went into the southbound lane and then collided head-on with the Honda.
Tilton died at the scene. On the other hand, Stiles sustained moderate injuries. First responders transported her to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center. An 18-month-old girl, who was a passenger in Stiles’ vehicle, was also taken to the same hospital with minor injuries.
The officers arrested Stiles on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The collision remains under investigation.
