16-Year-Old Boy Killed in Two-Car Crash on Highway 85
SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA (November 26, 2019) – A 16-year-old boy died and four others suffered injuries in a car accident on Highway 85, Tuesday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 10:59 AM. A 2003 Toyota Corolla passed a 1999 Ford F-Series dump truck before losing control and veering off the roadway. There, the vehicle struck a tree.
After hitting the tree, the Toyota veered back into traffic. There, it spun out and collided with the Ford. The driver of the Ford pulled off to the left shoulder, and the Toyota came to rest in the roadway.
The impact of the collision ejected the 16-year-old boy from the Toyota. Emergency responders rushed him to a local hospital, where he died at about 12:15 PM.
Meanwhile, the 42-year-old Toyota driver, a 46-year-old woman, and two other juveniles were also hospitalized with minor injuries. The Ford driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
CHP officials ruled out alcohol and drugs as factors in the fatal crash. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
