Harry Gee Killed, Tanner Robinson Arrested after DUI Crash on Highway 12
SONOMA COUNTY, CA (April 2, 2020) – Police identified the driver of a Honda Civic who died Thursday morning in a collision with a tree-trimming truck. Officials identified 69-year-old Harry Gee of Daly City.
The fatal crash happened at 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of state Highway 12 and Oakmont Drive. Police identified 29-year-old Tanner Robinson as the driver of the truck towing a wood chipper.
Robinson is suspected of driving under the influence of drugs, CHP’s Santa Rosa Area Spokesman David deRutte said.
CHP’s preliminary investigation indicated Robinson drove eastbound on Highway 12 and approached the intersection at Oakmont. However, for unknown reasons, he ran a red light.
Simultaneously, the Honda Driver — now identified as Gee — entered the intersection from Oakmont to make a legal left turn onto westbound SR-12, deRutte said.
The front of the truck hit the left side of the Honda, causing Gee, who was alone in the car, to suffer fatal injuries, according to the CHP.
“The driver of the tree truck [Robinson] was determined to be under the influence of drugs and placed under arrest,” deRutte said.
Police set Robinson’s bail at $100,000. However, Sonoma County jail records showed police releases Robinson from custody as of Friday.
