Woman and Two Children Injured after Car Crashes into Manure Trailer on Williams Avenue
HILMAR, CA (November 15, 2019) – A woman and two boys suffered injuries in a collision with a tractor pulling a trailer near Tegner Road, Friday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 8:07 AM. A Kubota tractor hauling a 15-foot manure trailer was eastbound on Williams Avenue, east of Tegner Road. Then, a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado approached the tractor, failed to slow down, and collided with the trailer.
Emergency responders airlifted the Chevrolet driver, identified as 48-year-old Susan Cabral Yori, to Memorial Hospital in Modesto. Her two passengers, a 16-year-old boy and a 10-year-old boy, were rushed to Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera with major injuries.
Meanwhile, the tractor-trailer driver, identified as 46-year-old Jose Mena, did not sustain injuries.
Officers noted that the Mena had caution triangles on his vehicle, so he was driving legally. In addition, both Chevrolet passengers were not secured in their seatbelts. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
The law requires that all drivers and their passengers wear safety belts while vehicles are moving. Not only will seat belts help you keep safe, but it also minimizes the chances of a fatal accident. Be smart and comply with seat belt requirements.
