1 Dead after Motorcycle Collides with Semi-Truck on 15 Freeway near Mile Marker 122
MESQUITE, NV (November 16, 2019) – A rider was killed after his motorcycle collided with a semi-truck on 15 Freeway, Saturday evening.
According to Mesquite Fire Captain Spencer Lewis, the incident happened at about 10:00 PM. Due to unknown reasons, a southbound motorcycle went off the roadway and crashed into the median.
The impact of the collision ripped the rider’s helmet and threw him off his motorcycle.
The bike ended up near the southbound side of the highway, while the rider slid more than 20 feet into the northbound lanes. There, a semi tractor-trailer struck the motorcyclist.
Emergency responders pronounced the rider dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, the driver of the semi-truck remained and cooperated with investigators.
The Nevada Highway Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the fatal crash. Officials will release additional information once it becomes available.
