One Injured in Big Rig Collision on Highway 18 in Lucerne Valley
LUCERNE VALLEY, CA (April 03, 2020) — One person was injured in a head-on collision on Highway 18 near Richard Street in Lucerne Valley Thursday morning.
The crash took place at 6:49 a.m. according to the California Highway Patrol. Involved were a big rig and a small sedan.
It was not immediately clear how the incident occurred. However, the officers said the semi ended up on its side after the collision. The car, on the other hand, sustained major damage.
Firefighters had to extricate one person trapped inside the sedan. The process took them until 7:53 a.m. After the extensive extrication, the patient was airlifted to Desert Regional Hospital in Palm Springs due to the weather.
Meantime, the names of those involved were not immediately available. The investigation of the crash is ongoing.
