Man Dies after Hit-and-Run Crash on Interstate 5 near French Camp Road
FRENCH CAMP, CA (November 23, 2019) – A pedestrian lost his life in a hit-and-run crash on 5 Freeway, Saturday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened between late Saturday evening and early Sunday morning. A man was walking on the freeway’s southbound side when an unknown vehicle struck him.
The vehicle did not stop to render aid. Then, several more vehicles struck the victim near French Camp Road.
Emergency responders pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
CHP officials continue to investigate the cause of the fatal crash. Investigators encourage witnesses to reach out and cooperate as soon as possible. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
