Jerrol Dodd Dies in Fairfield Multi-Car Crash on 680 Freeway
FAIRFIELD, CA (November 15, 2019) – The Solano County coroner’s office has identified a passenger who died in a three-vehicle collision in Fairfield Wednesday evening as Jerrol Dodd, 26, of Reagan, Tennessee.
The crash happened around 6:26 p.m. along the northbound lanes of 680 Freeway at Gold Hill Road. Dodd was a passenger in a BMW SUV driven by a Scranton, Pennsylvania woman. The car was stopped on the shoulder of the off-ramp of northbound 680 Freeway.
The BMW driver tried to cross the off-ramp lane and was broadsided by a Honda CR-V driven by a Fairfield woman. As a result, the impact overturned the BMW and a Dodge Ram truck before striking the BMW and Honda, CHP officials said.
Officials pronounced Dodd dead at the scene.
The BMW driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to the North Bay Medical Center in Fairfield. In addition, the Honda driver suffered moderate injuries and transported to Kaiser Permanente Vallejo Medical Center. However, the Dodge driver did not suffer any injuries.
The CHP said neither alcohol nor drugs are considered factors in the collision. However, the accident remains under investigation.
