Tanker Collision on 8 Freeway Near Highway 125 Snarls Traffic in El Cajon
EL CAJON, CA (November 27, 2019) — Several people sustained injuries in a multi-vehicle collision on 8 Freeway near Highway 125 Saturday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened near the West Main Street off-ramp in El Cajon at around 11:36 a.m. Involved were an oil tanker and three other vehicles.
A tanker collided with a vehicle in the No. 2 lane of 8 Freeway, causing the tanker to hit the center divider. The collision caused freeway traffic to back up, which continued past 12:45 p.m.
Officials said the occupants of a tan vehicle sustained injuries. There was no immediate information on their condition.
Emergency responders called tow trucks to clear the wrecked tanker and vehicles from the freeway. Workers cleaned up the oil spill from the tanker.
