1 Dead, Michael Lee Arrested After Santa Maria DUI Collision on Stowell Road
SANTA MARIA, CA (February 10, 2020) — The police arrested a 25-year-old man following a deadly DUI crash in Santa Maria on early Friday.
The officers said the two-collision occurred at around 1:20 a.m. on Stowell Road, west of Blosser Road.
One of the drivers died at the scene. The victim’s name was not released pending notification of the family.
The other driver, Michael Lee of Santa Maria, had minor injuries. The officers arrested him and booked him into jail for suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and driving a vehicle under the influence causing injury.
The police said both drivers appeared to be speeding and under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
Meantime, the roadway remained closed for several hours during the investigation.
