18-Year-Old Joe Barrett in Critical Condition after Concord Hit-and-Run
CONCORD, CA (February 10, 2020) – Authorities identified 18-year-old Joe Barrett as the young pedestrian struck by a hit-and-run driver on Port Chicago Highway, Monday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 9:00 PM. Due to unknown circumstances, a vehicle struck Barrett on the Port Chicago Highway on-ramp to eastbound Highway 4.
Officers arrived and found Barrett suffering from critical injuries. Emergency responders rushed him to John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek, where he remains in critical condition. Meanwhile, the driver that hit the victim did not stop to render aid and fled the area.
CHP reported that they have a person and vehicle of interest after receiving countless tips. Anyone with additional information should call CHP at (925) 646-4980 as soon as possible. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
