Early Thursday morning, a person was killed in a North Hollywood Vespa accident after a rear-end collision near the intersection of Vineland Avenue and Vanowen Street.
The driver of an Audi A4 crashed into the back of a man riding a motorized scooter, who was stopped at a red light. The Audi then continued heading south on Vineland and crashed into multiple vehicles, causing one of them to overturn.
According to officials, the driver of the Audi attempted to walk away from the scene but was approached by witnesses.
The man riding the Vespa died at the scene, and the woman driving the Audi was hospitalized with minor injuries.
It is unclear whether alcohol or drugs were a factor in the cause of the collision.
Similar to motorcycle accidents, accidents involving motorized scooters can result in catastrophic injuries due to a lack of external protection.
