Fatal Pedestrian Crash at Broadway and First Street
EL CAJON, CA (May 19, 2020) – An elderly man in a wheelchair died in a pedestrian crash Tuesday evening in El Cajon, authorities said.
The crash happened around 8:40 p.m. at the intersection of Broadway and First Street.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was crossing the intersection against a red light when an eastbound white Toyota Camry struck him.
Responding paramedics treated him at the scene and took him to a hospital, where he later died. His name was not immediately available.
The driver of the car remained on scene and cooperated with investigators, police said.
Alcohol or drugs were not suspected factors in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
