Durwood Swartz Dead in Bakersfield Pedestrian Crash on Coffee Road
BAKERSFIELD, CA (November 21, 2019) — Officials identified Durwood Henry Swartz as the man struck and killed by a vehicle on Tuesday, November 19.
Police said the collision happened at Coffee Road and Granite Falls Drive at around 6:45 p.m.
According to the report, the 85-year-old man was outside the crosswalk when the vehicle struck him. The man sustained serious injuries and died at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle stayed on scene and cooperated with investigators. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to have played a role in the crash, but police continue to investigate.
