Fatal Solo-Car Accident Reported on 5 Freeway near D Street
BLAINE, WA (November 21, 2019) – A driver died following a solo-car accident on 5 Freeway near milepost 276 around 6:51 a.m. on Thursday, November 14.
According to Washington State Patrol, a grey 2003 Honda Accord moved northbound on 5 Freeway near D Street at a high rate of speed. Troopers said that the driver failed to negotiate the curves in the roadway. Then the vehicle left the roadway to the right and crashed into a cement barrier.
Troopers have not identified the name of the driver. They stated that she died at the scene after paramedics attempted life-saving measures. A dog traveling in her car also reportedly died at the scene.
Troopers say the identity of the person was not yet released pending notification of next of kin.
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol contributed to the accident. Authorities listed the cause of the crash as speed too fast to negotiate curves.
Heston Hauling totaled and impounded the vehicle for safekeeping.
