Driver Wanted after Cyclist Dies in Hit-and-Run Crash on La Honda Road
ESCONDIDO, CA (November 23, 2019) – A 36-year-old Vista cyclist died in a hit-and-run crash on La Honda Road, Saturday afternoon.
According to the Escondido Police Department, the incident happened shortly after noon. Due to unknown reasons, a vehicle struck a bicyclist near El Norte Parkway. The impact of the crash ejected the cyclist from his mountain bike.
Emergency responders pronounced the bicyclist dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle did not stop to render aid and continued going northbound on La Honda Drive. A short time later, investigators got a break in the case. About half-mile away from the crash site, police spotted the wrecked vehicle on the 600 block of Aster Street.
