21-Year-Old Man Arrested in Fatal Pedestrian Hit-and-Run Crash on Jamacha Road in San Diego

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (May 21, 2020) – A 28-year-old man was killed in a pedestrian hit-and-run crash late Thursday evening in San Diego.
 
The crash happened just before 11:00 p.m. in the 8100 block of Jamacha Road near Glencoe Drive.
 
According to San Diego police, a 21-year-old man was driving a BMW sedan on Jamacha Road when he struck a male pedestrian who was walking westbound in the eastbound lanes. He continued westbound, parked his car a few blocks away and attempted to walk away.
 
Paramedics rushed the pedestrian to a hospital, where the victim later died.
 
Patrol officers located the driver and arrested him on suspicion of fleeing the scene.
 
Intoxication was not a factor in the crash and the man was later released, officials said.
 
Authorities did not provide the victim’s identity pending family notification.
 
An investigation into this fatal incident is underway.
