Multi-Vehicle Collision near Canyon Drive Left 2 People Dead

OCEANSIDE, CA (November 21, 2023) – Friday evening, two people were declared dead following a three-vehicle crash on State Route 76. 

Police responded to the crash around 7:36 p.m. at the intersection of SR-76 and Canyon Drive. 

Based on the initial report, a Mercedes sedan ran past a red light while traveling north on Canyon Drive. 

As a result, the Mercedes was broadsided with a U-Haul Utility truck going eastbound on State Route 76. 

The impact of the collision entangled both vehicles, causing them to push a Kia sedan into the left turn lane. 

Tragically, the first responders declared the two Mercedes occupants dead at the scene. At this time, their identities remain undisclosed to the public, pending notification from the next of kin. 

Responding paramedics treated the two other drivers involved for minor injuries. In addition, officials closed Canyon Drive between Eagles Crossing and State Route 76 for investigation. However, authorities have since reopened the street.
