Male Driver Arrested after Fatal Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Collision near Burlington Avenue
LOS ANGELES, CA (November 21, 2023) – Sunday, a mother and son died and Isaiah Villegas was arrested after a pedestrian crash on Wilshire Boulevard.
Police responded to the scene around 5:20 p.m., near Burlington Avenue in the Westlake neighborhood.
According to reports, the driver of a black 2008 Cadillac CTS lost control at high rate of speed and crashed into a traffic pole. The vehicle continued traveling eastbound, striking two pedestrians on the southeast corner of Wilshire and Burlington.
First responders declared the 32-year-old male pedestrian dead at the scene. Meanwhile, paramedics transported a 63-year-old woman to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to her injuries shortly after.
Authorities located two deceased victims determined to be a mother and son. However, their names remain undisclosed to the public at this time.
Police eventually managed to arrest the driver after attempting to flee the scene on foot. Authorities booked Isaiah Villegas in the Metropolitan Detention Center for vehicular manslaughter.
