51-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Solo-Car Crash on North Peach Avenue

FRESNO, CA (November 21, 2023) – Tuesday evening, Jose Vasquez Romero was killed in a single-vehicle accident on East Madison Avenue.

The incident occurred just before 8:00 p.m., near North Peach Avenue.

Investigators say the driver of a truck pulled over on the north side of the road. He then put his vehicle in reverse before walking to the back of the truck.

Shortly after, the vehicle began to roll backwards, knocking over the man and running him over. A witness then saw the vehicle with its driver door open and a man underneath, and contacted authorities.

First responders arrived and pronounced 51-year-old Romero, of Fresno dead at the scene.

Following preliminary duties, officers are investigating alcohol as a potential factor. At this time, an active investigation into the crash is still underway.
