90-Year-Old Woman Pronounced Dead after Rear-End Accident near East Washington Street

PETALUMA, CA (November 21, 2023) – Monday afternoon, 90-year-old Barbara Solve was killed in a rear-end collision on Highway 101.

Around 4:42 p.m., police responded to the scene on the northbound lanes of the freeway near East Washington Street.

Per reports, a woman from Cotati was heading north in a Honda CR-V at an unsafe rate of speed.

As a result, the Honda rear-ended a Range Rover that was traveling only a few miles an hour due to stop and go traffic. The Honda driver, 90-year-old Solve, suffered major injuries and was rushed to Petaluma Valley Hospital where she later died.

Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during clearing operations. At this time, an active investigation to determine further information is still currently underway. Once available, more details will be provided about the fatal rear-end collision on Highway 101.
