Driver Killed after Car Collides with Cricket Wireless Store in Otay Mesa

SAN DIEGO, CA (November 20, 2023) – Early Monday morning, a driver suffered fatal injuries following a car crash on Coronado Avenue. 

Police responded to the fatal incident around 4:11 a.m. at the corner of Coronado Avenue and Beyer Boulevard. 

Upon arrival, the officers learned that a Toyota sedan had gone off the road and went up the sidewalk. The Toyota ultimately came to a stop at the side of a Cricket Wireless store. 

The impact of the collision left significant damage to the side of the store. 

Tragically, the first responders declared the driver of the vehicle dead at the scene. However, the identity of the deceased driver remained undisclosed to the public, pending notification from the next of kin. 

The San Diego Police Department closed down the eastbound Coronado Avenue and Beyer Boulevard for investigation. At around 9:00 a.m., all the affected roads have reopened.
